About

A bowl of freshly whisked matcha

Our story

We are a family who fell for matcha long before it was on every menu.

It started at our own kitchen table. A quiet few minutes each morning, a bamboo whisk, and a bowl of bright green tea. Somewhere between the ritual and the taste it became the part of the day we all looked forward to, the small pause that set everything else right. The kettle going, someone sifting the powder, the soft sound of the whisk against the bowl. It was ours, it was simple, and it stuck.

We have always cared about what we put in our bodies, and about where it comes from. Matcha fit. Whole green tea leaf, whisked and drunk in full, made the way it has been for centuries. The more we drank it, the more we wanted to understand it properly, not just the taste but the care behind it.

What we found in Japan

So we went to the source. We travelled to Japan, and the beauty everyone talks about turned out to be real. Quiet tea rooms where nothing is rushed. Matcha measured by hand and whisked with a patience you feel more than see. Growers who speak about shade and harvest and stone mills the way other people speak about family, because to them it is much the same thing.

What stayed with us was not the ceremony itself but the feeling underneath it: that a few honest ingredients and a little attention can turn an ordinary morning into something you look forward to. We came home wanting to hold on to that feeling, and to share it the right way rather than the fast way.

The care we saw in Japan is the care we try to pack into every set.

A good bowl of matcha is a small, daily reminder to slow down. That is really all we are trying to pass on.

Why we started Botanical Teas Matcha

Botanical Teas Matcha is that same kitchen table, opened up. The ceremonial-grade matcha we drink ourselves, the ceramics we love to whisk in, and a gift set we built so you can pass the ritual on to someone you care about. Personalised, boxed by hand, and posted gift-ready from the UK.

Because it began as something we shared between us, that is still how it feels best given. Choose the pieces, add a few words on a card, and we make it up as though it were going to one of our own.

No shortcuts, no fillers, no fuss. Just good matcha and the few beautiful pieces that turn it into a ritual. We hope it becomes a small part of your morning, the way it has become part of ours.

With love, from our family,
Botanical Teas Matcha
